Course Objective
This webinar provides attendees with an in-depth look at wash sales/section 1091 of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) and discusses how to identify and treat this taxable event when calculating realized gains & losses on investment portfolios.

After this course, participants will be able to:

  • Define the following taxable events: a "rolling" or "chained" wash sale
  • Identify sublots ("branched" lots) and their adjusted cost bases
  • Apply the Hanlin v. Commissioner paradigm to identify substantially identical securities
  • Determine when a contract or option to acquire the originally disposed security triggers a wash sale
