Course Objective
This webinar provides an overview of IRC rules pertaining to Qualified Dividends (IRC 1(h)(11)), Dividends Received Deductions (IRC 243) and Short Dividends (IRC 263(h)). Examples of securities transactions show how to compute the tax status of a dividend.

After this course, participants will be able to:

  • Determine if and when a dividend becomes qualified (QDI)
  • Determine whether a dividend is eligible for the Dividends Received Deduction (DRD)
  • Identify risk offsets and calculate date adjustments for QDI and DRD
  • Calculate the tax status of a dividend paid through a short position (263-h)
