PRESS RELEASE

G2 FinTech to Re-present Inaugural Taxable Events Webinar

Repeat of popular webinar on wash sales, constructive sales and straddles will offer attendees the opportunity to earn CPE credit and participate in live Q&A session.

New York, April 27, 2015 — G2 FinTech, provider of tax analysis and compliance software for the investment management community, today announced it will re-present its inaugural webinar, Wash Sales, Constructive Sales & Straddles: A Primer, on Wednesday, May 20th, 1:00 pm ET. The webinar is part of a series of Continuing Professional Education (CPE)-eligible webinars that provides tax practitioners and compliance officers at investment funds and investment fund service providers with up-to-date guidelines on how to perform tax analyses of securities transactions (TAST), a complex and costly part of accurately generating book to tax adjustments.

This live, interactive and complimentary webinar is designed for tax managers, fund accountants, controllers, CFOs, compliance officers and auditors. The event will include a Q&A session and participants will have the opportunity to earn CPE credit*.

Authorities on tax accounting of investment portfolios, Daniel Tilkin and William Fang, G2 FinTech's Tax and Business Analysts respectively, will lead Wash Sales, Constructive Sales & Straddles: A Primer. The webinar will provide an overview of these three sections of the U.S. tax code (1091, 1259 and 1092) and describe how they affect realized gains and losses. At the conclusion of this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • define the various taxable events
  • understand how chaining and branching work
  • apply the critical concept of “substantially identical” securities to wash sales and
    constructive sales
  • identify which specific short sales trigger constructive sales, and
  • interweave cost bases adjustments across different rules in the tax code

Brian Roberti, G2 FinTech President commented “We have had a positive response to our Taxable Events webinars. Over 250 attendees have participated in our young webinar series, with 80% of those participants earning CPE (tax) certificates. With a month’s time between April 15th and this event, we expect the tax community, with their batteries recharged, to sign up for this spring season Primer in large numbers. Looking ahead even further, we’ve already scheduled our next webinar in this series for July 15th and will disclose program details at the conclusion of this spring event.”

Similar to the attendance at previous webinars, G2 FinTech expects tax practitioners, compliance and financial officers at different levels within hedge funds, hedge fund service providers and accounting & audit firms to sit-in on this 60-minute session that also includes a live Q&A period.
